Grayson Cellars' 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon ranks among the best bargains in Cabernet from that state. Notes of blueberries, wild flowers, black cherries, and background subtle wood emerge from this medium-bodied, fruit-driven effort. With silky tannin, excellent purity, and a real personality, this bottle may be enjoyed over the next several years.
One of the workhorses on the J. Lohr "farm," the Seven Oaks Cabernet is hugely successful in restaurants because of its accessible pricing and style. Its soft tannins, ripe fruit and slightly herbal edge go perfectly with grilled beef and lamb.

Very drinkable for a young Cabernet, showing aromas of blackberry and ripe dark cherries. The palate is ripe, fruit forward and well balanced with a fine, approachable tannin structure and well integrated oak. Very easy drinking now and should be more interesting after 5 years in the cellar.
Firm, with lovely sweet purple plum and currant fruit at the center, layered with herb and spice flavors. This Wine has style and persistence. Drink now through 2012.

Shows nice mixed berry fruit and modest toast notes on a medium-weight frame.

This wine has good ripeness, with a core of blackberry and currant fruit backed by smoky toast and a lingering hint of tar on the finish.

The more expensive Cabernet Sauvignon Napa is denser, more tannic, and more intense in fruit without the spice and earthiness of the Sonoma bottling. It should drink well for up to a decade.
Silver - 2008 Critics Challenge International Wine Competition.
A meaty, savory style lets it ripe plum and currant flavors submerge themselves in layers of roasted pepper and a smoky, stewlike character. It all lingers on the distinctive finish. Best from 2010 through 2017.

Rich and intense, with potent currant, leather, roasted coffee and nuts. Holds its focus and finishes with a complex mix of spice, dried dark fruits and ripe tannins. Drink now through 2012.
Wine Spectator - 88pts.
It shows classic Napa structure, with firm tannins and rich acidity, and a deep core of black cherry, black currant and oak flavors. It's delicious now, and should develop for a couple of years.
